I parked my RX7 under its own power last year.

This year I go to start it and I have no electric power. Even with a new battery the car is not getting power. The headlights don't work the BOS ( I think) valve doesn't tick, the Tach doesn't show volts, The clock on the dashboard will not even run.

I think I have blown a main fuse or breaker some how. I have tested the fusible links next to the battery and test all the fuses in the fuse panel but they all tested good. Is there a main fuse some where that isn't obvious?

Has any one else had similar problems? Also the Search function only showed ignition problems not a full electrical failure.

My car is a Gen I 1980 RX7. I installed power locks and the previous owner installed power windows.

Fuse Link either inside the Car is blown or if you have a Fuse link in the engine bay its the center wire

check the main 80? amp maxi-fuse on the drivers side engine comp

Thanks. Next time I am in the town were my car is I will check those areas. If that doesn't work I guess I am back to tracing all the wires in the harness. I will let you know.

Re: No electric power at all!

I have been tracing wires. I did notice the W/R wire going to the main 80 amp fuse in the engine compartment goes straight to ground. I don't have any power going to the wire is this normal?

According to my wire diagrams it should go to the ignition switch.

I traced the wire from the fuse in the engine compartment to the ignition and I do not see where it may have gone to ground.

I have checked the fusible link under the dash as well it shows good (talk about a pain to reach).

Re: No electric power at all!

Sounds wrong. The WR (white with red stripe) wire usually goes to the fusible link distribution block that is mounted to the shock tower. Since you have the wiring diagram, you should spend time tracing your wires and resetting them back to factory. If that wire is supposed to carry positive voltage to the fusible link, and it's grounded, then it'll melt something for sure and blow out your electrical. Hopefully, it's just a fuse the fried. Take out each fuse in the fuse block below your steering wheel (above the hood release) and check those. There's a 30A fuse for the "Engine" that may have blown too.

Re: No electric power at all!

Thank you for your response.

I was showing a buddy my car and telling him my troubles with power intermittent power and now no power. He pointed to the stock fuse assembly and asked what it was. I told him and he asked why my main fuse block was attached to the negative battery cable. He asked if my issues happened after changed my battery cables and pointed out the black wire I had mistakenly assumed was a to-frame ground might be the power to my main fuse.

As it turns out that was the issue. After chasing almost every wire from the in-car fuse panel to ignition and to the main fuse buss, all I needed was a second pair of eyes. I now have power and can start the resurrection procedure.
