12a fuel pump good for 13b swap?

alright, so after over a year of planning and whatnot i am FINALLY swapping a new motor into my 85 gs, lil more power and a slight kick in the *** for the time being. i am swappin an 88 n/a motor in it (cuz i got the motor really cheap and it has semi-low miles, i plan on doin a 13bt in the summer tho)and basically i was wonderin if the fuel pump from my 85 gs will be sufficient for the 13b motor. its only goin to be about 50 more horse but im not sure how strong they really are and i dont wanna lean the engine out and blow it. thanks for help

ummmmm unless your keeping it carb that fuel pump will never work. even if keeping carb it still isnt enuff to suport that engine. recomend a good fuel pump like a holley or something wich flows more.

The problem is that EFI operates at a much higher fuel pressure than carburetion.



With a carb, the pump only needs to fill up a bowl, and gravity basically pulls the gas into the intake - low pressure.



With EFI, fuel has to be shot out of the injector in a very small amount of time, so pressure has to be high so that the fuel flow is sufficient - high pressure.

if you're keeping it carbed, then you still need a bigger fuel pump, these cars are under pumped from the factory...



for an efi swap, you need a gsl-se pump, or an external bosch or something

well what would you guys recommend and from where? id like to get a nice one good for about 350-400 horse (for when i put the 13bt in)

plenty of external bosch pumps, 044 is the sexy comp pump...



walbro makes an external pump

do i need to put on an se fuel tank and fuel lines or can my stock ones handle it?

gsl-se and 12at tanks have baffles and a larger fuel pump feed line. if you can find one, get it, if not its not a huge deal

I installed a Holly pump,8mm id fuel lines.....works like a charm...
