Geoffman72 04-29-2003 12:38 PM

What year RX-7 is this for? We need more details. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

j9fd3s 04-29-2003 12:54 PM

yeah, like whoa

mike

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 12:56 PM

1985 model with 13B Peripheral Port, Supra 5 speed, 9 inch diff, motec e.f.i. and K&N filter

Geoffman72 04-29-2003 12:57 PM

Noice! Now what do you need to know about a starter? (And im going to move this to the first gen section https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR )

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 01:03 PM

Well I don't know where the starter section is

Geoffman72 04-29-2003 01:07 PM

lol, he was just joking around with you. Starters are usually generation specific and since you have a first gen, voila! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

j9fd3s 04-29-2003 01:07 PM

yeah, i'm guessing you have an rx4 bellhousing on there?

mike

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 01:10 PM

I let my mechanic do all the work, I just pay him

j9fd3s 04-29-2003 01:15 PM

haha, ok

mike

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 01:36 PM

I don't know if anyone has had this problem before but what can I do to stop braking my diff yoak, the joint from the tail shaft to the diff https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Geoffman72 04-29-2003 01:45 PM

Smooth launches and make less than 200whp https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Seriously though, is the pinion angle ok? The angle of the driveshaft to the yoke?

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 01:54 PM

Last time on dyno it made 310.8 HP and it's only braking when I go from 1st to 2nd and let go of the clutch

Geoffman72 04-29-2003 01:57 PM

How hard you shifting when you do that?

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 02:02 PM

I shift at 7500 Rpm

Geoffman72 04-29-2003 02:09 PM

Yeah, but do you basically just drop the clutch when you shift or do you try and smooth it out best as possible?

TyresmokinRx7 04-29-2003 02:11 PM

Drop the clutch. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

RX7 S7 04-29-2003 03:21 PM

AH YES. I know who you are now. You're mister yoke bracker. This man has gone through more yokes than I have through cars.

What that would be your 7th yoke

You're here know.

Speak to you later.

RX7 SP

TyresmokinRx7 04-30-2003 09:47 AM

My mechanic is replacing the yoke again and asked to check the alighment

Racer X 04-30-2003 12:37 PM

Make sure he double checks the pinion angle.Thats the biggest mistake of swapping trannies and one of the most costly parts if you don't get the angle right.

I've seen 3500lb cars with 700+ Hp running ford 9" rear that have yet to break a

yoke. There has to be something mechanical binding. How modified is the rear

suspension to make it fit?

Raul

TyresmokinRx7 05-01-2003 12:28 PM

We found the problem. The yoke was not aligned and when I went to take off the diff would move and cause the yoke to twist to much and cause it to brake.

Special thanks to Racer X for your help.

Nice setup, I was thinking of getting a supra box for when I get a s5 engine, but I think I'll keep the s5 box and if I break it, I'll get a supra one.

Good luck breaking it.My S4 T2 Tranny will be a challenge to break.I hear they can take up to 450hp before need strengthened gears. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png
