Hey! I just wanted to post up and view this forum. I just got a 82 RX7 GS so I thought this site could be very helpful to me. Currently there is no engine in the car so I have been going through a few engine options and hope to get it up running soon. If you guys have any suggestions or anything let me know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Looking forward to being a member of this site.

Thanks

Michelle

It just snowballs doesn't it? Congrats on the purchase. Personally I would put a built 12a in there then turbo later down the road. But it comes down to what you are trying to get out of the car.

If you're just looking for a motor to get it going, go to your local Pull-A-Part or Pick-A-Part or whatever you have and find a wrecked first gen RX-7. If it's wrecked, then the engine probably ran okay before it was totalled. Check the top of the motor for oil pooled around the 12A stamp. No oil puddle is good. Then pull the spark plugs and make sure they aren't melted or chewed up. Finally, pull the exhaust manifold and feel inside the rotor housing for any gouges. If all is good and the motor can be turned by hand (out of gear and no belts) then take it home. IIRC it shouldn't cost more than $200.

Yeah we actually visited all of our junkyards and things here and there is only one first gen in town, motor is shot, and a couple 2nd gens, same thing engines shot. So thats why I have decided to just do a complete other engine cause those are easier to find https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
