I've just bought a 82 RX7 at 44000 miles - 70 yr old owner from new and mint in every respect . I'm going to give it a service and then use and abuse it.

Can someone pls recommend oil and plug type to use. I've been told responds well to being driven hard and good for it - is this true.

Any general hints would be appreciated as to how to enjoy this toy

Many thanks

Paul

stock plugs are fine for a stock car.

most ppl prefer castrol gtx 20w50/10w30.

Let it warm up to operating temp and give it hell, My only problem I have had was replacing my stock clutch I burnt all to **** powerbrakin the old tires off and replacin the brakes that were old as well. Im startin to get noise in the tranny but its all about to get yanked out for a T2 upgrade eventually so let it break.

Oh and welcome to NP! Good to see some action in the 1st gen section!

vavoline VR-1 20w50 oil in your motor ! Some of the 3rd gen guys mix the 20w50 with 10w30 but I just run straight 20w50. Ive seen a bump in pressure as well with the 20w50, car runs great with the synthetic garbage oil out of it and some good mineral oil in it. As for plug type, NGK is really the best way to go, and only way to go in most cases https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Good Im glad Im not the only guy runnin VR1, I like the oil but I have dropped a couple of PSI since I started using it but only at cruise rpms. My motor has 91k on it now and doesnt smoke a bit except for when I first start it in the morning and it literally last about 2 seconds. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif
