OK so me and Julian (ZenRXSeven) sent down to North Carolina yesterday to pick up a Series 5 motor for the GSL-SE. I wasn't expecting this motor to be this clean!!! Check it out, we paid $150 for the 13B, and look how beautiful it is! I'm so happy!

Sorry for the large pic suze, but you can really see the motor better that way! Also, next on the list is taking the oil pan and front cover off to swap with the SE motor. One question though, what do I need to do to remove the OMP? I'm gonna go with straight pre-mix and wanna take it off if possible. Thanks

Leo

Nice.

Removing the OMP is as easy as making a small block-off plate on the timing cover and removing the lines from the engine. I'm not sure what you wan to do with the oil injectors? Leave them in and just cap off the tops.

There are no oil injectors, it's been converted to carburetion, and the oil is just fed into the carb. I am going to try to assemble the motor later today with manifolds, etc, and maybe get it cleaned and shinied up if the rain stops...ALSO! does anyone know where I can find the part of the throttle linkage that the accelerator cable connects to? The one on the carb I have is a ball-and-socket type, but the factory Mazda cable is still in use on the car, and has a cylindrical connector. They don't work together, and I have something rigged up but I don't think it will work except to j ust hold the cable on there...If anyone knows where to get the part though, let me know! Also, yeah it was a **** of a long ride...ditto the ass pain.

The best way I've heard of or seen is to take a scrap piece of metal about 2 to 3 feet long and drill a couple holes in it to bolt to the flywheel, then you have to stand on the motor and turn the nut. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

edit: by stand, I mean put one foot on it to keep you from tipping the hole motor over.

Thats the fun part. I screwed some bolts into the flywheel (after taking the clutch off) and wrapped 8mm chain around it to lock it.

Getting your nut off:

If the engine is on the ground, get one person to stand on it while you stick some 2m pipe over your ratchet to get enough levarage to crack the nut. If its on a engine stand you can do it with one person.

Make sure your aware of the bearing/spacer problem (actually theres a few threads on the nut off topic)
