You could pull the exhaust manifold off, then rotate the motor and look inside the ports. You will be able to see each apex seal as it passes the port, and can even reach in with a pencil or something to push on the apex seals and see if they move freely. Easiest way to tell without tearing down the whole motor. And since it has been sitting for so long, there is a decent chance that you just have a stuck seal. Although its also possible the car became "unused" simply because someone blew the motor. Could go either way.

Decide what class you want to run in Autocross before you port the motor. Porting of any type will throw you into SM, or SSM, SM2, or whatever the hell they're calling it this year. These are the "anything goes" classes, so you'll get eaten alive unless you get 400 hp out of your port job. CSP is a good class to run in due to the fact it lets you do all the things you want to do to improve the car anyway (other than porting).

On the carb, check out www.sterlingmetalworks.com Lots of information on troubleshooting, rebuilding, modifying, and tuning the stock carb. Great site.

If you need suspension parts, by far the best place I've found is www.re-speed.com Great people, customer service, and they'll happily advise you on your setup if you have any questions.

The motor's coming out, and a 13B-RE's going in its place. I've got the motor from a guy at work, and I haven't had time to tear into it and figure out exactly what condition everything's in yet. If anyone needs a 12A to rebuild, let me know.

Eventually, I'm going to run the turbos non-sequentially and tune with Megasquirt, so I should have fun with this car.
