one of my neighbors just put her 85 rx7 up for sale. i didnt even know she had it! anyways, i havent had a chance to go check it out yet, but she said it has a little over 200,000 original miles, and it still runs good. i know it has a manual tranny, but what engine does it have? carb or fuel injection? what gear ratio in the diff? i dont really know much about 1st gen's, but im thinking about buying this one. its red, no damage that i could see, garage kept, only one owner, $1500.

It has the 12A engine with a carb. I am not sure about the gear ratio though. Hope this helps a little.

unless its a GSL-SE its a 12a motor, the GSL-SE was a 145hp 13b fuely with full disk brakes and i wanna say the frount brakes on a se where larger then the other modles. if its a GSL it will have full disk brakes as well but will have a 12a carb motor. the 12a motors where like 101hp . as for the gearing that will depend on the modle of car could be if a 12a 3.909 for an 85 only ,if a 13b 4.076. and as if its a limited slip well again would have to know what modle and even then alot of times it was an option.

well, i couldnt test drive it when i went over because the owner wasnt there, but i talked to her on the phone, and she said it was a gsl. anyone know what ratio the diff could be? she thinks it has lsd.

3.909

Yes, the GSL had LSD stock. Depending on how it was driven and cared for, there is probably still plenty of life left in her. Contrary to piston engines, constant easy driving is not good for rotary engines. But as long as it runs now and has decent compression, a can of seafoam through the gas tank will clean out any carbon that might have built up from years of easy driving. MAKE SURE THAT IT HAS NO RUST!!! ESPECIALLY UNDER THE STORAGE BINS! Anything else can be dealt with over time. Good luck! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

i bought it yesterday. i test drove it, and thoroughly checked everything on it. it is in much better condition than i even hoped for. no rust, very good paint, never repainted, no damage inside or out except small cut in passenger seat, and i got the price down to $1100. it has plenty of power, and is a lot of fun to drive, but im going to replace the tires and get new seats before i start driving it a lot.
