https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif one day my car was running great and the next day i started it and it was smokin and cover about a square mile like it was smokey as hell! And about the car not driving will somtimes i can put it into gear and it will drive at about 1000rpm and i put it in neutral and i can only rev it up to 5ooo....does anyone have any idea? Someone said my seals are gone but i have no idea what that is!

check for a vaccum leak.

Cote 04-03-2003 09:04 PM

do you know how i would go about doin this? Like i dont understand how it can run and be at 5000 rmp and just stall???

Does it Idle smooth or does it feel like it's firing on only 1 rotor?(1/2 power)

Does it sound like it's sucking more air than usual ( loud Hissing noise near the

carb)?

Have you pulled the spark plugs to check for fouling?

If all the plugs look the same, open the throttle all the way up (engine OFF) and look

past the throttle plate on the rear (closest to firewall) rotor and see if the shutter

valve is stuck closed.

Cote 04-04-2003 08:58 PM

and if that valve is stuck what do i do?

Smog Fighter 04-04-2003 10:24 PM

it is actuated by a diaphragm under the carb. Pull the vacuum line off of it and see

if it opens.

Please remember that we need to go one step at a time. Even if all of the highly

experienced members of this fine forum posted every possible fix, you still need to

do the work. We can only suggest, it is up to you to actually find and fix your

problems.

In every situation, when dealing with internal (infernal https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) combustion

engines, you need to check the basics. Fuel, Spark, and Compression.

Yes it runs, but it doesn't have all the power it should. So there must be a

problem somewhere.

Do you have some tools? A basic hand tool set and a couple of special tools

like a timing light and a compression tester are needed to perform most repairs.

Also remember that "age" doesn't matter as long as you are willing to follow

directions.

In the end, if it's too frustrating, or if our suggestions don't help, find a local

repair shop that works on rotory engines. Don't go to a "chain" shop (Firestone,

Lube and Tune, Pep Boys, etc.). It is extremely rare to find a good diagnostition

in that type of business. Most are either "Newbies" themselves, or are "Parts

Exchangers" (throw parts at a problem until it goes away).

Shop around, ask questions, find labor rates, and compare. In the end, go with

the shop that makes you feel most comfortable.

Well, I've probably pissed you and everybody else off with my ramblings, so I'll

shut up now.

Just so you get the message, Im posting this in all three places you asked:

Sounds like a blown water seal to me. Check your coolant level in the radiator. If its low, fill it and then try and drive it or run it for a while and see if it goes down again. If so, its most likely a bad water seal.
