Well since I'm kind of new here (and racer x made me do this https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... ) I figured I'd post what I'm doing.

Start from the beginning.

Here is my car the day I brought it home back in 2001. Got it just for it's body, engine ran like **** so it was perfect for me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

setzep 01-23-2003 12:13 AM

Here is the disassambly of it so I can swap over the, GSL-SE goodies.

setzep 01-23-2003 12:17 AM

Ok now we're getting to buisness! The 13B-RE ready to be dropped in.

setzep 01-23-2003 12:19 AM

What it looks like under the bumper.

setzep 01-23-2003 12:24 AM

The Air mover

treceb 01-23-2003 12:25 AM

nice.. :bigok:

setzep 01-23-2003 12:26 AM

What it looks like now.

setzep 01-23-2003 12:29 AM

I'm open to any criticism, ideas, questions, complaints, suggestions ect...

Racer X 01-23-2003 12:38 AM

Nice car.I like the color and those wheels. And I didn't make you I just thoought you might as well show us all what you have been working on.Is that a NPR Intercooler? My car will be a elite FB with NOS and you guys will be boosted.Nice to have more inducted FBs showing up here mine will join the ranks shortly.

Racer X 01-23-2003 12:39 AM

What will you be using for engine managment?

setzep 01-23-2003 12:47 AM

treceb- thanks

Racer X- I know you didn't make me post it all but I figured what the hell, it would be a good opportunity for some feedback;). The wheels are just going to sit in my garage forever unless someone wants to buy them. Can't use them anymore now that I have the -SE bolt pattern. Nope not a NPR, riceracing made it special for a FB. He has the same one in his car. lol.... YOURS joining rank soon.... you already are, untill my car runs/drives I'm waiting to join the ranks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

Not going to use the E6k like most people? How much of a pain was it to mount the T2 tranny?

setzep 01-23-2003 01:02 AM

I figure the E11 will be worth the extra $ taking in account the extra things it can do.

Mounting the t2 trans was a snap. Used the stock crosmemeber but had to redrill it. Tossed the stock mount and used a 3/4 aluminum spacer to get the right transmission height.

setzep 01-23-2003 01:06 AM

Here is a pic of the spacer

Racer X 01-23-2003 01:11 AM

Cool.Looks like a clean install.Good job.So when do you think the beast will live?DirectFreak was saying end of january for his.

setzep 01-23-2003 01:19 AM

Just FYI the mounting of the trans was the easy part, making the FB shifter come up in the right spot was where most of the work went.

Haha, I remember when he said it was going to take a month from start to finish. Funny how it always takes you at least 2x's as long as you think it will. But I don't doubt his will be rinning in a week or so, he's pretty damn close. I'm shooting for spring.

Racer X 01-23-2003 01:23 AM

Thats good to hear about yours. He still hasen't checked the PM I sent him about how long he figures.Oh well.I hear you have to use the 1st gen shifter housing to make the T2 tranny work right in the FB chassis. Was it easy to swap over?

setzep 01-23-2003 01:31 AM

funny you ask, I have pictures https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png how late you wanta stay up?

Racer X 01-23-2003 01:34 AM

That many then.....I thought it was easy to just swap over.

Racer X 01-23-2003 01:39 AM

This is going to be quite a write-up.I've been asking alot of swap questions. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

setzep 01-23-2003 01:43 AM

I'll make it easy and just post links to my old threads over on the other forum

Racer X 01-23-2003 02:14 AM

At least now I figured out how to drop in a T2 tranny. That looks like fun. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/blackeye.gif

j9fd3s 01-23-2003 11:10 AM

wow, that like a trip down memory lane, i remember the first car you bought, the rusty one!

mike

setzep 01-23-2003 12:37 PM

Racer X- it was fun doing all that because it actually worked! Made my week when I bolted it all together and went through the gears.

Mike- lol, tell me about it... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

The one I have now isn't totaly rust free either but at least I had metal to build off of on this car!

j9fd3s 01-23-2003 12:37 PM

yah its coming along :bigthumg:

mike

setzep 01-23-2003 12:46 PM

If the rusty one is a 12a then they make a great daily. Those are tough engines.Mine was dead in the rear rotor when I bought it and still daily drove it to 8000 rpm all day long. Then somehow and 13b manged to make a home there. :bigok: https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

Joe Flo 01-23-2003 09:54 PM

Awesome car!!! Love everything about specially the paint job

I don't know too much about Rx-7's since I still consider myself a newbee. I love first Gen's they are super sweet. But can somebody explain the 13b-re engine to me. I know about the 12a,13b,20b and that junk. Can someone give me a rotor 101 lesson or know of a site?

setzep 01-23-2003 10:10 PM

Racer X- It's a S4 trans, they are much easier to mount in the FB then the S5's. Yeah the more rusty one was a base 85 S, sucker even had steel wheels on it! It ran like **** and looked like ****, (under it) so I unloaded it for the price I got it for (500 bucks).

Joe Flo- the 13B-RE comes from the mazda cosmos, it's the same engine as the 20b but in a 13b version. It's in between a T2 engine and a FD engine.

The RE comes with huge intake ports and taller upper intake manifold and is just a bit different then a REW engine(FD or 3rd gen). The RE is the best bang for buck engine you could drop in a first gen and mounts really easy as opposed to the REW or 20B enignes. Its the little stuff that costs you $$$.
