Hello my name is Austin Im the proud new owner of a 1983 RX-7 GSL with a stock 12a N/A few things need to be addressed such as my exhasut as it split right before the muffler an I had to sleeve it back together. So I do plan on a full racing beat set up, suggestions are more then welcome I do have an oil leak that needs to be addressed as well. Looking for any friendly suggestions as to what I should look into checking/replacing seeing as it is a 31 year old sports car an rubber likes to rot also metal isnt immune to the Michigan elements either. Anyways looking to hear from my fellow wankel fans (:

Be ready to spend a bunch of money.... I just got a 1980 a few months ago and have taken apart the rear suspension, replaced bushings, powder coated all components, replaced brake M/C, booster, lines, replaced clutch M/c and Slave and line, replaced radiator as it was almost as much to clean it out professionally, replaced all the heater hoses, belts, all rubber... Now the front suspension is taken apart for bushings and powder coating... wheels are getting powder coated, new tires ordered...

So pretty much all the rubber and wearable parts are being replaced, after 34 years all that stuff gets rotted.

I still haven't addressed paint and air conditioner. Trying to find a suitable condenser and A/C parts. I have the Nippon compressor and I can't find a replacement so I may need to use a Sandem. Also, haven't really done much to engine except for removing rat's nest. Looking at carb options too. Luckily this one won't need much interior work. Overall, this was a really nice car to start with, just since it's 34 years old, most of everything needs replacing.

A lot of work, really a labor of love and you'll probably never get your money back.

Now, if you are willing to live with a less than perfect car, you can get it running and just drive it till it breaks. The fix as needed.

Oh, also, I sent the fuel tank out for repair as you can't get a 1980, replaced alternator, replaced starter, replaced water pump, replaced spark plugs, cap, rotor, all fluids, belts, added dual sheave pulley on alternator...
