It was so cold last week that the ice just seemed to grow on my car. My first gen is extremely cold blooded, even more so than my Jeep!! which is no easy feat. My 1st gen has the manual choke, but takes a good 15-20 to warm up, until it will idle on its own. Is this pretty common in the 1st gens? Not a big deal to me, I was just surprised how much the cold weather effected it.

Holy crap! sorry about the giganto picture, that is not what I had planned. It was only suppose to be half that size!

Do you know what degree thermostat that you have? I would suggest putting a higher degree one in for the winter if your having that much trouble getting it to warm up. You might also look at the old way of putting a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator until it warms up, just remember to take it out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

my car does the same damn thing i have to crank the car i crap load of times before it turns over then i have to press the gas a couple of times before i can leave the car even if the choke is out the damn thing will still turn off. after the second time i try this i press the gas while cranking then it turns over and press the gas a couple of more times then pull the choke. it takes forever to warm up. how can you change the temp. i really dont wanna break my baby

I'm not sure about the thermostat, I will have to check it out. I just bought the car last July so this is my first winter. Never thought about the cardboard trick > good idea. I usually don't have to crank too much though. With three good pedals of gas it will fire right up, it just wont idle on its own after about 15 minutes.

This is what I meant to do. Must be a thing with 83 GSL's. Mine was originally that color also before the mutation. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
