My clutch bearing destroyed again! I had a new one put in 500 miles ago, when the one it had (with only 3,000 miles in it) when thru exactly the same. Car is in the shop right now. Now, here's the question. What in the transmission could be causing the clutch to go bad so fast? do I need a new tranny? shifting 1st-2nd-3rd gear has always been rough - can't shift fast. This is so frustrating!

Damn thats F***ed up.I wonder if it wasn't aligned right when you put it on?Did you use a alignment tool?
F***ed up indeed. Affirmative on the alignment tool. However I will have to look into the shaft the pilot bearing rides on - might be damaged and causing the trouble.
That or a defective bearing. My new clutch works great.
Yes, look at the pilot bearing. If that is bad the trans will go bad and I can see how the clutch woulden't like it much either.
as it turns out it was the pilot bearing that broke. Upon inspection, could not find what might have caused it - everything else looked fine and in place.
Broke?? How did it break? anyways, don't forget to put in a pilot bearing seal also when you replace the pilot bearing.
