so this is what ive been playing with for a little while, ex-pro7 car, thats getting a 12a PP engine.

just got the wheels yesterday, so now it looks cool

1988RedT2 06-10-2008 01:01 PM

You've got a lot of junk in your trunk, mister! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683607.gif

j9fd3s 06-10-2008 01:33 PM

yeah, the water heater broke, and we had to clean out the garage!

z-beater 06-10-2008 01:56 PM

I like!

TheRX7Project 06-10-2008 03:37 PM

That is pretty sweet.

So let me get this straight. To P-Port you basically just drill a big-ass hole in the rotor housing and fill in the original ports, and put some sort of "runner" in said new big-ass hole so you can bolt an intake to it. What needs to be done for cooling?

sen2two 06-10-2008 07:17 PM

damn that thing is beautiful. i can never find clean 1st gens around here cheaper than 5k...

those wheels are sick too. nice ride...

Chris Taylor 06-12-2008 12:21 AM

Is that a 12A or a 13B? Looks like 13B waterpump/front cover, but the housings look too narrow in the picture for a 13B. How ya gonna mount that puppy?

engines a 12a, its just mocked up. of all things i need to find a 12a front cover and oil pan! i used to have em....

i'm hoping to use the aluminum water pump housing, but we'll see

Chris Taylor 06-12-2008 10:24 PM

There's an extra stud for the 13B waterpump, and I believe the front cover has more dish for clearance of the aluminum pump housing. The aluminum is about 5 pounds lighter, tho, if not more (going off memory... its fuzzy).

If you got a 13B center iron and did a FC subframe swap it'd be perfect, tho! lol

that one!

efi is in the works too

Jeff20B 06-27-2008 12:43 PM

Are those your X plates? I've never seen an intermediate quite like that before.

yep, i'll go grab some more pics

j9fd3s 06-27-2008 06:42 PM

x castings.... these are factory filled ports. comp stat gears

Chris Taylor 06-29-2008 09:35 PM

Intermediate looks similar to the JDM 12A setup.

Jeff20B 06-30-2008 12:49 PM

Thanks for posting pics! The intermediate has the upper machined section of a '76 or newer but with the temp sender hole os a '75 or older. Also tall ports of '76 or newer, and with an ACV port. Was it filled in?

acv in the iron isnt filled, but the rotor housing has no port for it, so its blocked there.

i should take pics of the rotor housings too, big font MAZDA housings, but the exhaust is sleeveless and differently timed

Jeff20B 07-05-2008 12:34 PM

Do the exhaust ports open later than US-spec, like MFR housings?

yes. i printed out a degree wheel, and its got mfr port timing, which when coupled with the carb, is going to be nasty

kahren 07-16-2008 07:10 PM

where the hell are the port pics?

ahh this thread is useless without port pics!

j9fd3s 09-05-2008 03:45 PM

way laggin on pics, engine is in the car, this pic is a couple days before it went in

kahren 09-05-2008 03:58 PM

its just a hole.... actually i should do one, if you shine a flashlight in the trailing plug hole you can see it thru the intake port

kahren 09-05-2008 11:45 PM

damn it, you put it together and took no pics of the ports?

Jeff20B 09-08-2008 01:21 PM

The intakes are probably the same as MFR timing, right?

Hey are you going to use the water temp hole for a guage?

j9fd3s 09-09-2008 02:31 PM

yeah i did put a degree wheel on it, port timing is close to mfr timing.

i think i'm going to block off the hole, but i do have that sensor from an rx2, so i dunno yet

75 Repu 09-09-2008 11:25 PM

damn mike, that looks like its gonna be soo fun when you turn it on!

Jeff20B 09-10-2008 01:00 PM

You could make an aluminum plate and install an aftermarket sender.
