I went outside today, to start and run my car. After starting it up, it had a constant miss every 3 seconds. I went and got my timing light, and my gsl's timing was majorly off. I am curious as to what could have caused a major bump in the timing. Is this something serious?

Update, The timing is fine, I was just looking at the timing light during the day. The car misses constantly now, and smoking out of the tail pipe. It looks like oil, its a greyish blue color. I dont know if its the carberator or the engine.

I am going to buy new spark plugs this weeknd. I dont get paid untill saturday. Any reccomendations on a certain brand. I am not looking for racing spark plugs or anything like that, im just looking for average spark-plugs. My budget is very tight.

EDIT REASON= I had to add my budget question.

Use only NGK spark plugs. Trust me on this one... Take a good look at your cap/rotor while you are at it, and make sure your plug wires are in good shape.

I took a look at the product, I will order them this weeknd. I am favoring that product now, because of the inside "Solid Copper". Most are aluminum and other cheap materials, and I am big on Electronics. Thankyou for the reccomendation "Kentetsu".

I use either NGK or Nippondenso. They're pretty much the same. My car misfired pretty regularly with the stock ignition, and I cured it by going MSD. YMMV.

With the blue smoke and regular misfire, I would be inclined to suspect a blown side seal in the motor. If so, you can probably score a good motor at your local Pull-A-Part style yard.

You may want to confirm you have a spark on all plugs while you are at it. You may have lost your leading ignitor and would result in only your trailing plugs firing. It will run like crap, blow lots of unburned gas and the engine looks like it wants to jump out of the car...
