So a guy not too far from me is selling a 1979 RX-7. It has the 5 speed trans and alloys so I guess it's the GS trim. The guy is asking $500 for it and won't budge so I figure I'd ask for some advice if it's worth it.



Car has been sitting for 10 years with blow apex seals, no rust that I've seen anywhere, needs paint, has had body work done to the right rear quarter but it seems to be a good job, interior is average, glass and trim are good. He also said that he will throw in extra rotors and housings for the 12A.



I'm not looking to have this a drivable car right now, I just want a fun rotary project. If there is anything else I may of forgot just let me know.

Good deal I'd say. If you want to learn about the engine, do your research then rebuild one. Having a spare one around is a great thing too, especially if you get into porting as it will give you practice. Once you get it going it's a collectors car too. These things are starting to appreciate if you're just interested in restoring it.

Well I have a few friends with FC's so I've spent a good amount of time around 13B's and from what I've heard the 12A isn't really much different. I'm not wanting to restore it back to all original but I would love to get it looking nice with tasteful aftermarket modifications. I'll post pics and a proper intro when I pick it up. yeah 13b goes right in. i will say one of the most 1st gen's ive had was a 100% stock 79 though, its all soft and goofy, but it is fun.



the other fun one did have the 13B and some suspension

i picked up a 1980 1st gen a while ago for about $1000 u.s, it had a soundsytem with 4 speakers, 2 subs, an amp, headunit and 2 tweeters. retrimmed front seats, sports gear knob, pedals and wheel, and a sports exhaust. it had a load of problems with it and the body is as dented as a crushed beer can but its a really fun project car. im loving it! ive put a varex exhaust muffler on it and had most of the issues cleared up so far besides the body work and the windows being screwy. id say buy the '79 you've seen. if its that cheap what have you got to lose but much to be learnt and fun to be had?
