Well every now and then the master cylinder tank goes completely empty. After examination, I've determined that it's leaking from a bolt in the bell housing. The transmission works great when there's fluid, and the disappearance occurs randomly.

I think the bolt is stripped, so maybe retapping it would fix this problem?

I'll post two pics, one context shot and one of the actual bolt.

Any ideas?

Here's the bolt and some of my artistic talent...

that is actually where to slave cylinder bolts to the transmission. That nipple there is for bleeding your clutch fluid. I'd make sure that is tight first, and if it is, then look into taking the slave off and checking for leaks from the slave itself.

Excellent, I will try that this weekend.

I figured it can be easily fixed...

My master and slave both leaked like crazy...then for about 15 bucks I got a rebuild kit for both...and a auto-bleed kit...swapped out the parts...crammed it all back together...no more leaks

as for that bolt...someone stripped out mine too...unless it just comes that way https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

I just made sure that the other one was down as tight as i could get it...doesn't seem to be causing any problems

Still need to replace the master/slave line on mine...then i'll be done...i'd advise the same...mine like is starting to swell where it connects into the slave...not good at all...also seems to be letting air in...cuz the fluid is starting to turn black again

in closing...rebuild both of them if you havn't already...you'll love it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png The easiest way to check for a leaking slave is to check the Boot at the back of it for fluid, if it's there they you need to replace it.

The general rule is if the master has been run dry then it should be replaced too as the seal will be bad and can damage a new slave.

If checking to see if a slave is bad, look behind the clutch pedal, if it's wet then the master is leaking. Becareful as brake fluid is an acid base and will eat everything, carpet, clothes and more...

We have all ways stayed away from th kits as the slave & master has a lining in them, where the seals ride and they usually have pits in them which will take out a new seal..

If you want new ones we have some in stock that are inexpensive and a good quality..

BTW while you are at it, check the flex hose at the slave, if it's wet or cracked it may need replacing too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif
