Here's another problem that I'm having with my Rx7. I've had a problem with my Rx7's ignition for a while. It used to be, that sometimes I would go to start the car and nothing would happen without a couple turns of the ignition. Now it takes many many tries to get the engine to at least try to turn over. Most of the time when I turn the key all gauges and instrument panel lights lose complete power.

Back in August I ordered a replacement ignition switch, but instead I received an ignition key cylinder. Today I was bored and hooked up the replacement key ignition cylinder, to see what would happen. I was surprised because everytime I turned the key, the Rx7 would turn over and start. Then I hooked up the old ignition key cylinder and just like before nothing would happen.

Some I'm a little confused now about what the problem is. The ignition switch is a little loose in both cylinders but works almost 100% of the time when the replacement ignition key cylinder is hooked up to it? Is it even possible for an ignition key cylinder to break or fail over time? It doesn't look like switching key cylinders will be easy to do. So what does this problem sound like, ignition switch or ignition key cylinder or both?

I really want to get all these small problems fixed so I can move on to bigger projects with this Rx7. Rx7 #5 has had one problem after another thus far, but I'm determined to do what it takes to keep it running for as long as possible.
