I found out today that it won't fit in the bay by the rad so it looks like its time to chop out a section of my front kit.Anyone have any pics of the Volvo FMIC install on thier first gens?

Thanks

what only FCs and FDs get to have fun with hairdryers...lol

actually id like to know that also since my friend ordered one for his fc and then purchased a different one. so i can get it for cheap.

I don't think I've seen one. Most of the ones that I've seen(including mine) use the Starion IC. How big is this thing? There's alot of room in front of the rad.

I was wondering just how efficient the volvo fmic's are? I see them on ebay all the time and even the "big" ones sell for cheap. I was also wondering how efficient the Starion was? I have read many opinions that say it is not big enough to be very effective and vice versa. I always figured that since it was mounted in the front it would work better than the tmic, but maybe I am totally wrong. I picked one up a while back but I don't know if I'm going to use it. I might just break the bank an buy the greddy one.

The core i just measure it by itself is 18.5" long,17.25" high and 2.25 deep.Thats without end tanks on it.I guess I'll have to take out the front valance panel and try to fit it there.I know the lower lip on my Erebuni bumper is going to have to be cut now. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png Why me? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

Plus I think it need to cut the front of the chassis to run the piping to it.I better not have to or else I see about selling it or try another way to get it to fit. ARG! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

That sounds like some overkill. If its gonna be that much hassle, sell it and go the starion IC.

I gotta be different.I'll take the panel off tommorow and see what I'm working with. Then I can make my decision on weather or not to cut the bumper and ****.

This is how I mounted mine. I didn't care about the lower valence since I have a Mariah Mode One that's going on later. It's the large NPR.

The car has a Serious Intercooler Grin.

haha, that looks funny. I bet it will work good with the new front end though. I woulden't go up any steep driveways with it like that, rub city. I bet you'll have good air intake temps.

Thanks for the pic DF.Your always around when I need some help.I'll see what I can muster up.I have the erebuni kit so even if I have to cut alittle out its only fiberglass. My car will smile like that soon enough. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png How are you making out on the Cosmo Kramer swap?

Arrgh.. don't remind me. It has been completely done for about two months now. Just waiting on my Tuner to make some room so he can tune it and re-do the primary rail.

It runs????Thats a first I heard.

setzep 09-12-2003 06:20 PM

It doesn't run because the primary rail needs rework.

Heres my problem you guys.I'll have a sinister grin like DirectFreaks car but I have to cut about 4" out of it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif I don't want to cop it apart but It's not going in otherwise.Plus that wierd outlet angle is going to be hard to get a pipe thru to the throttle body. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

Racer X 09-13-2003 10:53 PM

I'll wait till tommorow afternoon for some opinions before I break out a 5" grinder with a Zipcut disc on it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif I also forgot to mention that I have no choice but to mount it upside down to get the turbo to cooler pipe to work.I'll have to figure somthing out for the drivers side pipe tho. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Racer X 09-14-2003 01:54 PM

Anyone against me chopping the bumper? Its the only way its going to fit if even then. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png The chopping starts in a few hours.I have to tint a car first tho. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Racer X 09-18-2003 12:40 AM

Bumper is cut and it looks like it will fit but the intercooler will be 4.25" off the ground tho.Is this enough clearance for a weekend cruiser?Remind you I have a 1" drop. This is such a tight fit as it is.But man what a smile it has with it on blocks like it is till I fab the brackets up at work. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

drifter 09-18-2003 08:25 PM

You're just gonna have to avoid all speedhumps and watch for dips in the road.

Sounds sweet. Show us some pics!

Now I don't feel so bad about using an S3 FB "tall" radiator in my good little car.
