anyones knows about ignition timing on rotary?, distribution points?

what do you want to know?
|
i take off the distributor from engine bay, and i lost the marks between front pulley and distributor gear,
i read in haynes manual, that second mark front pulley is for leading right? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif |
Did you take the front pulley apart? I hope not . . .
If not, the white mark is the one you want to be lined up with the pin on the front cover. On the distributor, there is a little divot in the shaft (right above the gear) about 2mm diameter, and a matching bump on the housing right above that, and those two marks need to be lined up. |
if you rotate the motor over clockwise (you are facing the front of the motor) the yellow (or white) mark is the first of the two.

back from the dead what about setting the trailing to begin with. inside the dizzy on the trailing plate there is marks what should this be set at for starters in the middle mark or what?
Reason being i locked my dizzy for my turbo project on my 12a cant get the car to idle for crap right now. The carb hat isnt hooked up so thats not the issue. i mean i can get it to start and feather it to life but runs rough as hell |
you set the leading first, and then the trailing is set with by adjusting the trailing vacuum advance. the holes for it are slutted

10 degrees btc would be before the leading mark. Efectively makeing it 10 degrees advanced correct!!!! This is on a turbo 12a project and habe been told 10L 20T and even 10L 10T to make them fire at the same time. Now lets say i go with 10L 20T i would need to measure ten degrees clockwise fom 0tdc for the 10L and then 10 degrees counter from 0 for the 20T makeing it a twenty split correct?
SO anything btc means you mark clockwise after 0 and atdc means counter closkwise on the pulley correct!!!! |

actually jeff20b's method is easier, 1mm = 1 degree....
|
i read that the other day. so clockiwse from 0 is btdc meaning advanced and counter is atdc from 0 right!!!!!

i cantseem to adjust the trailing at all when i move the pod in and out there is no noticeable diffrence. i locked the dizzy buy pulling springs. With the cap of when i move the pod in and out the plate inside moves. so its hooked up. i have it set dead in the middle of the adjustment for now. How can i get the trailing to fire at the same time as leading. This is a turbo blowthrough app
