I Have converted my leading ignition system over to direct fire. So now I need 2 new coils. I was looking at coil specs and I trying to find out what I need.



Like the MSD blaster 2 coil: 45,000 volts, 140 milliamps of power and 350 microseconds of spark duration.



Or the MSD Blaster SS coil: 40,000 volts, 300 milliamps of power and 220 microseconds of spart duration.



What I would really like to know is how many milliamps do I need, how many microseconds do I want

Whats more important when it comes to a coil for a rotary Power or Burntime????

Dont even waste your money on the blaster coils. Mine puked out after just 4 years on my turbo fb. Club car with about 15k in 4 years. So I called the msd tech line, got the rotary tech specialist, yes they really have one. He runs a msd 6a and uses it to power up a FC leading coil. So thats exactly what I did. Because I am skeptical I hook it up using spade connectors and flip back and forth between the blaster coils and the fc coil. Mine car took about five seconds to start using the blaster coils after it was warm, and about 1 second on the stock fc coil. Also the blaster coils were shooting flames in the drive way as I reved it up. not burning all the gas. Flipped over to the fc coils, starts right up and no flames.



There is no difference between the na and turbo coils for the fc. Use your money and buy a msd box and a used leading coil. I swear by it. BTW, I threw my blaster coils in the garbage.

My car was getting so hard to start I thought my motor was going out. 20 year old coils ftw.

I am running a FC leading coil pack right now, but i dont like the fact that 2 sparks are coming from one coil. That means one of the sparks are lost or wasted.



Doesnt that mean that you could have twice the spark energy if you were running a seprate coil and igniter for each leading spark plug???? insted of fireing one coil down two wires??



What about those coils that connect directly to the spark plug and gets rid of the leading wires??

If it concearns you that much. The best setup would be 2 msd 6a each firing a single coil. Your still going to have a waste spark on each coil regardless. People are running upto 500 rwhp on fc coils with an ignition amplier. Unless your heading north of that, I think you just wasting money on coils, that could go to other mods, like a large fmic and bigger injectors. Thats my 2 cents. You will make more bang for your buck with other mods.

Cool That sounds like good advise so I guess if i want a hotter spark,i'll stick with the FC coil and get a MSD 6A ....

Sounds like a good idea. i have a 6al firing a 2nd gen coil and love it! Soon i will go with a blaster 2 for the trailing
