ok I cant decid which way I want to go with my 84. EFI turbo or some type of carb turbo set up? any 1 that can give me good pros and cons would be a big help. At this time I am thinking of using a dellorto if my dad will give it to me. and making a custom plenum or using throttle bodies and a plenum what do you all think https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

efi is more expensive as with carb you can go blow threw or draw threw. I'm useing a holley 650 double pumper on a racing beat intake with a special plate under the carb that provides the throttle shafts with boost press so they don't leak under internall boost press. You'll also need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and high press fuel pump so as boost press rises so will fuel press. You will also need a timing computer to control the retard under boost. for the turbo I'm using a 91 TII turbo and manifold stay away from 87-88 they suck and are prone to crack all over the place. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

do you have any pics of your set up. also how many psi are you running are your setup

it depends on how much hp u want and how much u want to spend. i dont think id trust a carb with over 250 to 300 hp. ive seen air cooled vws with higher hp than that, and the setup would be identical if u go with a weber or dell. ok maybe not identical set up, but its the same principles.

I dont think I want alot of boost just around 6 psi or so. is there a big difference in HP, lets say between a modded 91 13B N/A and the same motor running 6 psi. what i mean by modded is full exhaust, dellorto,no emssions, direct fire ignition

gearbanger 04-21-2003 07:51 PM

my motor is not done yet so I'm still running the 12A and sorry no pics yet. C an't seem to spend money on a digital camera when I have more parts to buy.

blowthrough is the way to go!!! most bang for the buck!

a perfect example.....go to Rotaryshack.com/movies

"silver car"

it is a stock 13b turbo motor, stock turbo, no intercooler, 10 psi, blowthrough weber 45 dcoe...

it made 230 whp!!! on 91 octaine gas without an intercooler! this setup can be daily driven with no problems!!!

see the dynosheet@ www.rotaryshack.com/dynosheets

silvercar https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/v1.gif

p.s. the setup will go 13's in the quarter mile easilly!!!!!!!!!!

the 12a turbo uses the same tranny as any other 1st gen. the turbo should bolt on to the motor, but you either need to use the 12at intake and efi, or do somethign to your carby to make it run
