I have an intermittent problem with my headlights. When driving (and so far only when) with my high beams on switching back to low beams turns the headlights off completely. At this point the only thing that seems to resolve the issue is setting the lights on low, then turning them off and back on again until they just work. The passenger side light also work intermittently in low, but just fine in high. Would this be a problem with the bulb, or wiring?

Also, how can you get the lights into the up position without them being on so that they can be worked on? There is some moisture in one of the housings I would like to get out.

To get them up to work on leave the car off and open the hood. You will see the motors near the headlights. There is a rubber boot covering the knob you can spin to put them up manually. Sorry, if this is not the best description, it has been a while since I have worked on a 1st gen, but this is how we did it on my brothers way back when. Maybe some other people will chime in and give you some more guidance..... Hope this helps you out some what.

The problem isn't with your headlights themselves, it is with your highbeam/ low beam switch itself. If I read your description properly, your head light buckets pop up but the lights themselves will turn of when at the high beam. right? If so, you need to remove and rebuild your switch. Be very carefull it is an intrakit system, with little ball bears that will spring out (do it in a contained area, so not to loose anything). It is not difficult, you just need to get in a completely clean the contacts off... or buy a new one for a couple hundred bucks!

To manually raise the headlights, you need to disconnect the battery (or the motors will open and close on you as you try to raise the buckets), locate the bucket motors in both front corners of the engine bay, remove the rubber boot over the adjustment knob and turn!

Actually, the high beams work perfectly all the time, but when I use them and switch back to the lows, sometimes the lows cut out. Doesn't happen every time, just every once in a while.

Still sounds like the switch. That is the the only place that power is diverted... Assuming it is both (L`& R) lights blinking out...

Only the right side light blinks in and out. The left works fine except for when they just shutoff.

Well, than you have to check the wiring... Have you replaced the bulbs yet?
