So my uncle is finally selling his '83 GS and I'm lookin' to see how much i should be paying.

It's had only 1 owner, 67,000 miles, black interior, removeable sunroof, barely driven for the last 6-7 years. He said it's been covered in his garage for most of the time, but the oil was changed and all fluid checked. It has a new battery. It has no rust and very little, if any body marks. Let me know what you think a fair "private party" price would be.

Thanks,

Joe

Where is this? I ask because it makes a big difference, up here a car like that would be worth $3k - $5k, but some places a lot less.

Sioux Falls area, South Dakota, although I think for the first half of it's life it was near Denver, Colorado (if that makes a difference)

I dunno, I'd probably give up to 3, but anything past that is reserved for GSL-se IMO.

So you're in rust belt just like I am . . . I concur with "up to 3", maybe a bit more if it's really minty, which it sounds like it is. Also, I wouldn't stress about paying maybe a bit much for it, they're not going to lose any more value, quite the opposite IMO.

its prolly worth 3-5k its hard to find a really nice fb period let alone a low mileage original one

I paid $800 for my 85gsl 5spd. Garage kept, 2 owners, 74,000mi, no rust, perfect body. I got very, very lucky though. Sorry, i just wanted to brag a little. I would make an offer of around 2k-$2,500 and see where it goes from there afterall, it is staying in the family.

Thanks everyone. I won't be buying the car until later this year but its good to know where to start from on the negotiations. IF I decide not to buy it (not likely) I'll be sure to post the information on here for anyone else interested.
