Has anyone put a functional hood scoop on there 1st gen? I've made a crappy air intake with dryer vent hose, but I'd like to have a scoop for ram air. Any suggestions would help. My engine is stock 12A with k&n air filter.

Just buy a aftermarket headlight lid(with air scoop) for the passenger side headlight and rig it to force air in to the intake.Mariah Motorsports sells them.BTW Welcome to the Forums.

but does it really force enough air?...and with ram air....doesnt it just matter whats sucking not whats being forced?

the more you can cram down the carb the better... if its only sucking say 100 CFM and you are cramming 150CFM down it its gonna make more power, and run alot more efficiently.

Mariah sells by far one of the nicest set ups but very expensive. http://www.mariahmotorsports.com/exterior/..._hoodinsert.htm

NOTE: A Low Profile Air Cleaner Modification Pkg (Part # 611-03-0029) is required on 79-85 RX-7s with stock 12A engines.

NOTE: 84-85 GSL-SE RX-7s also have the added "Ram-Air" -SE Induction Modification Pkg option. (Part # 611-03-0273)
