Hi, I m newbie here. Want to verifying that bought Hilux rear end at my local junk yard for my 1st gen RX7 but its came with 5 studs. I heard from the dealer its from Jspec Hilux LN86. Hope someone esle who can identified this type rear end would be great appreciate.

Didn't all toyota trucks come with 6-bolt wheels?

I was under teh impression that the hilux pattern was 6 stud. It is here in aus.

That rear is from a 2WD toyota 7in ring gear....

What year? I do not know but i bet it is a 1981 and newer model.

It is a good rear but is much longer than a OEM 1 st gen rx7 rear.

Also for the work to be done there isant much improvment over say a GSL SE rear.

I would go with a toyota 4x4 rear from a v6 model, Supra turbo posi unit, supra brakes and calipers...they have 31 spline axles, beefy center sections and gear selections from 3.73 to 6.00.

But even better is a Volvo 1984-1991 turbo models rear.

They were Dana 60 , large disk brakes and 5 bolt pattern...and they are 1.5 inches longer than a OEM 1st gen rear. we use them all the time and chances are you can get them for nothing at a local scrap yard...oh and DANA/Spicer sell EVERYTHING for this rear!!!!!

So if you were to use this diff, would you shorten the axles or keep the extra width?

I've only ever changed rx7 to rx7 diffs.

I've been measured stock 1st gen RX7 rear length 57". Toyota hilux 4X4 6 studs rear end with drum brake length is 58" toyota Hilux LN68 5 studs rear with drum brake length is 56" and then toyota crown LS130 rear end with disc brake length is 57". cause i need the strong rear end can withstand high H/power 13B turbo rotary for drag racing.

I measured 3 type of toyota ring gear they're width from left to right.

toyota 4ag ring gear is 6.7" width 25mm.

toyota crown ring gear is 7.5" width 28mm.

toyota hilux ring gear is 8.2" width 32mm.

Yes...that is one option...I used Weld racing wheels and they sell the correct offset.

I belive it is 15x8 5 1/2 backspacing....somthing lake that its been a long time..

As long as the toyota was a V6 from 1988 - 95 and the trubo models from 1986-87..you are in good shape..If it is the turbo model or a 92 4x4 v6 that came with oem 31 tires it will have a 4.88 with a clutch type posi unit.. That is as beefy as toyota comes..

We had a 2WD toyota rear in a datsun 78 B200 with 4.30,s and a stock 12A...and it did not hold up much...we took it to hunts point (BronxNY) a few times but was always afrid of the axles giving out...V6 8 inch rears oar eht key!!!!!!
