aight, it's still about my 85 gs, but i figure this question warrants a new topic.

ok when i floor this puppy, my wonderful automatic tranny decides to shift at 5600-5900 rpm...now we all know that the redline on the car is 7000. is there some sort of device/part that i can use to change when the transmission shifts? my 20 second quarter mile is killing me!!!

Could you just shift it manually through 1st and second? I use to do this with my old Mustang but it had a shift kit in it and would about break your neck when it shifted. I don't know how much of a difference it would make rapping out your car if it was stock. On my 82 my power band starts slowing down after 6 grand or so and it is completely stock. I usually don't shift too much past 6500 unless I am in first gear because the power is just not there.

i'm not as much looking into it for now as for when i get some mods...because then where will i be? *sniff* shifting at 5500 and missing my powerband. is there like, nothing i can do?

You need to find a shop that makes custome convertors...they can make one to your needs..

hehe, my needs...definatly a need.

****, I've never seen an older slushbox that shifted when I wanted it to. Can't stand the things. But if I was in your position, I'd get a racing tach and a shift light, and just bump it up a gear when the light comes on.

Does B & M make a slap-shifter for the RX-7?

i'll ponder on that one while i go sand down my windshield trim to repaint it...i'll send pics when i'm done!

repainted trim: the shiny part above the windsheild is what it all looked like, and what is shown is the repainted area above the door and on the pillar right there...it's a little blotchy, but eh.
