Well 1st off let me introduce myself.

My name is Roman, I'm 19 and currently looking for a job and I live on my own since my mother has passed.

I used to have a 300ZX TT, however the engine blew up and I came across this FB for 500.00 as a stand in car. But I feel in love with it! My good friend has a FC 88 and we decided to work on this car.

I would like to ask some experienced FB owners what would be the cheapest tune ups for a Rotary engine? I never ever had a Rotary muchless a carb. Hahah, I do have high expectations for myself tuning this FB.

This is what I have already done to it:

Changed the oil with Royal Purple

Change the oild filter to K&N

Cleaned the engine from major build up.

Bought a new Carb

And stripped EVERYTHING. all but two seats is inside.

It came with new wheels and amazingly, a New 86 Clutch and a new Alt.

I threw in my RedTop Batt from my Z too.

I plan on getting new NGK spark plugs.

So, agian..is there anything cheap I can do? I already know I new brakes, the E-brake does not work! I tried tighting it, however it's no use.

Well that is about it!

I hope to become a good part of this community!

Thanks so much for your time.

tune up = more power?

spark plugs are key, rotaries are hard on plugs, because they don't get a chance to cool between strokes like a piston engine

since there are no valves the rotary is also more sensitive to backpressure in the exhaust, the freer flowing it is the more power you make.

on the intake side, the stock air cleaner is fine, it does help to duct it to cold air, open air cleaners just get hot air.

welcome!

racing beat exhaust systems get very good reviews. there are a few performance upgrades that are easy to do otherwise you can go custom if you have the skills.

it all depends on what you want to do with the car.

Ok, thank you guys! Sorry for the very very late reply. I just got new NGK Spark Plugs and NGK spark plug wires. So far I have seen a little improvement in HP.

Oh and about the exhaust, if I get one now, for the 12A engine. Once I swap for a 13B, would I have to get a whole new exhaust?

depends, 12a is shorter, so it takes a different header. if say you buy an RB system, when you switch to a 13B you just buy a 13b header and it will still work.

Alright! Thanks once again!

Another question, Does the Law require that I have a Catalytic Converter? I'm not sure if certain years are allowed off this law. Such as, any car 86 and older.

federal law says yes, but if you do not have to smog it nobody is going to look...

states generally dont care, as long as it passes smog, but most dont test anything this old

Welcome. The guys got you covered on the basics.Only other thing you can look into is when you rebuild the motor you can get your rotor housings street ported.NA's are very powerlimited without a big port or nitrous.
