I want to upgrade my exhaust, but I don't have the money to buy the street port system by Racing Beat. I was thinking about getting the Road Race Header and than removing my cat somehow. Will I see any differance in preformance with this and than buying the rest of the system when I have the money?

And HOW do I remove the cat? does someone sell a straight through pipe? can I just take it to an exhaust shop and tell them to use some really thick ****?

Thanks

You'd have to buy the flange, and make a collecter out of a y pipe or something, since the road race header is dual.

I spent 400 total on my exhaust, 100 for headers and 110 for Apex N1 and 191 for mandral bend tubing"very important" and magna flo silencer under. Another cheap way would be to buy just the flange and gasget for the header then having the muffler place do all the mandral bend pipes all the way back. If you ever heard a boat out of the water that is what it sounds like if you do headers with nothing in the back. One more thing if you take too much of the restriction from the car you will lose some torck from the stock engine. Advice a job well done once is better than 2 or 3 jobs done half fast, save your beans and do it right the first time. [QUOTE] from Tech Tip from Racing Beat,"With rotary engines the exhaust gas temperature is very high - approximately 1,700-2,000 at full throttle and high RPM as compared to 1,100- 1,400 for a four-stroke reciprocating engine." this also means not any muffler will do or you will learn as i did having to buy a new muffler.

How long has the N1 muff lasted you so far?

mrdiaz96 11-28-2002 12:59 PM

I got the N1 in May 2002. but the inside burnt out already that is why I had to put the magna flow which I made sure that is was packed with stainless steel wool. The N1 is basicly their for looks and a little bit of sound change.
