im guessing this is on a series 3? u need to remove the shifter panel/console to expose 2 screws. i believe all that holds them atop is 2 nuts that are behind the ***** for the temp control.

i think thats all, although its been a while since i took one off.

you also have to reach your hand behind the colsole one you get the 2 screws at the bottom and the 2 nuts from the dials...it has 3 lights that you twist and pull out...one for the ciggy tray and one for each dial...after that it just lifts off

you'll also need an install kit...wal-mart sells one made of plastic that fits the hole...crutchfield also sells a really nice metal insert with a black plastic face cover...you can get that and the wiring harness adapters for free if you order a reciever from them

without the kit your radio will just set in the hole...not very attractive

rotorhead.ca has bracket for a radio and a cubby or 2 or 3 gauges made out of aluminum. i ordered one...

but other ppl have liked it and said it fit fine after receiving it...

also, i dont think they have, or at least i havent seen one, a wiring harness adaptor for the factory plugs.

right now i dont even have anything that would use a gauge. does anyone make a carbon fiber three piece thing to replace the ashtray, shifter surround, and center console.

by the way, has anyone seen the new light-up 5 speed rx-8 shiftknob?
