So i dont think i will be seeing200 or so anytime soon to blow on a 13bT engine, so i think im gonna cave in and save a little more and go with a webber 48ida, hurray for a carb'd 13b 6 port.

this will be my first carb'd car, so no idea what to expect, anyone have hints or suggestion.

Are you going carb only or a blow trough setup???

inanimate_object 04-03-2005 11:47 PM

I think carbs are underrated.

rowtareh 04-04-2005 08:05 PM

it does not have to be freezing. why not go standalone? at least with a standalone, you could use it later if you decide to with boost.

dont want boost...

camocarl 04-04-2005 11:39 PM

If your going to be running an 48 IDA expect to get horrible gas mileage and expect poor throttle response down low, but works very well in higher RPM's. BTW, I have a 6 port 13B IDA manifold if you still want one!

so ive heard about the throttle response problem, what can i do to counteract that.

and how much are you asking for the manifold?

defprun 04-05-2005 11:55 AM

If your carb's tuned properly you dont have to worry about cold weather at all.

defprun 04-05-2005 11:57 AM

Your "cold" weather. Usually its humidity that does you in more than anything, but you live in Texas.

are you saying that we dont have humidity? its like 80-100% everyday

185 for the manifold shipped to your door. It is in excellent condition. As for the carbs thats the way that they are, they are made for high RPM and race applications. But they are real sweet up in the RPM's and can handle all the power you can make. Let me know. Carl

Your wrong!! You must be talking about stock carbs. Sidedrafts or downdraft no matter if they are tuned or not wont like running in the cold weather. Carl

I know this well.My weber is not properly tuned and I can still start it in -20 arctic weather. When it gets colder it has a hard time trying to turn over let alone carb problems.Carbs are good in any weather if they are setup right.I live in the middle of BC so I can speak from experience.Just got to plug them in at night.

Block Heaters? Thats cheating!!!! Try starting it in the cold and getting it warmed up without one. It doesnt like it.

i find if you set the idle mixture on the rich side it helps a lot with a cold engine and no choke.

i'm in ca though, doesnt get that cold

thats why im happy to live in tx.... im curious, where is the main power come in from the webber, like, what rpm does it seem to kick in at the most, i dont exactly bring mine up to redline often.

im looking for more mids then anything...

Yah I dont doubt that at all, all Im saying is talk to anyone who knows anything about rotarys and they will tell ya you have to get on them every once in awhile to clean them out. I push mine up to 7k or a lil higher at least once or twice a day just because I cant help it, it feels great to drive a rotary! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
