I have a rust hole on the passenger side of my 83 and I can't get a weld to stick to that rail for some wierd ass reason.Anyone know what mazda did on these cars to prevent them from being repaired????It a about a 1/2" deep plate I have to replace thats about 2.5" in diameter.Any help is appreciated.I don't want to turn this car into a parts car. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Thanks

Luis

what part of the car is this on. Is it at the rear or underneath? I have had to do some welding all over my car and I have not had a problem yet.

Im no welder, but on my last 1st gen that was given to me, I watched my buddy cut the nose from the struts forward and weld another on, everything went smooth until he got next to the steering box and idler arm areas. He couldnt seem to get it grounded quite right and struggled quite a bit. He had to grind off the paint down to the metal, then welding was a bit easier. May not be same problem with yours but it might help.

edit:

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif just read what I wrote, we didnt grind the whole car's paint just close to where he was welding and where he was grounding.
