Since the car is red, and the paint is kindof dull, I figure going with flat red would be fitting and kindof unique...i mean who paints their car flat red anyway?!

But still, flat black would look damn good too...

ahhhh, hence this poll.

semi gloss black? imo flat red is gonna look like you painted it with a spray can

defprun 06-12-2004 11:26 AM

this is true, but i like red...and spray can gloss red looks like ass.

ColinRX7 06-12-2004 12:18 PM

Why would you want flat anything?!

Did you forget how much you loved the gloss of my engine bay?

TYSON 06-12-2004 12:33 PM

Flat black, no doubt.

SCC Project Silvia. $50 flat black paint. Looks awesome.

A guy i know has a 93 civic si with a H22 swap and he painted it flat black..looks so good...

venomrx7 06-12-2004 01:28 PM

do like the mini that one of the magazines did. simigloss metallic black. ohh I loved that paint.

Seraphx7 06-12-2004 01:30 PM

I would go with black but I dont want to do the engine bay and all that. the bay and door jams are faded so they are flat already.

Jeff20B 06-12-2004 03:57 PM

Heh, is that even possible? Perhaps without a clearcoat, but it would still probably be a little glossy.

Dysfnctnl85 06-12-2004 06:34 PM

Flat black...there are WAY, WAY too many red RX-7s.

The flat black made for military vehicles, as well as the other earth tones they are painted, not someting you can get at an automotive paint suppplier or at the local parts house, radar has a hard time picking it up. Cops usually shoot radar @ your license plates, might look suspicious if it was painted flat black!

defprun 06-12-2004 11:05 PM

I could do semigloss flat black with a metallic in it...

itll cost $100 instead of $50 though, lol

That would definately be unique and badass!

GarageBoy 06-13-2004 07:36 PM

The problem with spray can flat paint is that its porous and sooner or later, you're gonna have a rusted hulk. (seen a few primered hondas look like that)

defprun 06-13-2004 10:28 PM

The trick is to wet sand the paint of the car so that it keeps the protection of the stock paint, rather than taking it right down. And if you do take it down by accident, always hit it with some primer right away.

A dull coat over the flat black will take care of any moisture that the flat black paint will absorb.

j9fd3s 06-14-2004 08:56 AM

zebra stripes!

GarageBoy 06-14-2004 09:10 PM

Is there such thing as automotive flat black?
