Looking to replace my oil cooler on my 82 fb. I have a line on a used cooler out of a 79 or one off of a 85 fb. Will these coolers fit a 82? I think they will but want to check before I buy one of the mentioned used coolers.

Yes, the earlier SA oil coolers are a popular swap into FB's. Good luck!

85 will not thats the beehive style the 79 will though!

79-82 are all the same

the 83-85 12a's have a crappy water to oil one

and the 84-85 gsl-se cars have a nice one, but its a little different from the 79-82 one, and you'd have to get different lines and make some simple mounts, as its in front of the radiator

i used a FD oil filter stand, had some oil lines made to fit and aftermarket oil cooler. i did this very cheap. and i think it works and looks great!

heres where i mounted the cooler with zip ties...lol

and a shot of the oil cooler lines, steel braided half inch lines. -8 if ordering the lines and fittings.

If it works, its good. Just as long as it doesn't fall on the road at 100 mph. *PING*.... ****BOOOMMMM**** https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.gif

if your looking to do something fun and very nice, try the SA double setup. get a sheet of cheap sheet metal and make a new air guide to the rad. Run to a junk yard pull 2 oil coolers from 2 SA's. place them in front of the rad. on top of each other and pipe a connecting line and to longer return lines. better oil cooling, AND the added benefit of lower lift on the car.

its good. i had an oil cooler zip tied for over 2 years on FC.

Sweet, if it works, it works. I learned something new, lol.

i zip tied a muffler/exhaust on a HMMWV (military hummer) up before. held for six months from what i seen. when i came back home, it was still holding. lol...

zip ties are the ****!
