hey again guys,
i dont know if i want to put so much money into an e-fan like the black magic for like 16x$$.. so whats the better way to go? e-fan? does it improve proformance or the original fan that runs off the belt? does that decrease proformance??? Help me again!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |
never ran an E-fan...but look at it this way...you're in some SERIOUS trouble if the e-fan dies...but the worst that can happen with the belt drive fan in the clutch burns out...and then it just runs all the time https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
probably would experience some small gains from switching but I'm not sure how much...you could search thru the forum for older posts about the topic but if you strip off the ac and emissions it shouldn't be a big deal...it makes a world of difference...I think anyway |
thanks again!!! im post happy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

minimal HP gains and weight loss to be had. It does clean up the engine bay a lot though....and you don't have to pay that proce to install an E fan. Get one from a junkyard or on ebay. If the fan goes, it's not gonna be the end of the world immediately...you'll have time to shut the car off. Now if you blow a coolant seal or quickly run very low on coolant somehow, then it'll overheat quicker than you can blink.

I agree that the e-fan runs the risk of electronic failutre.
HOWEVER, i've also heard this same thing for MSD units (for the ignition), as an excuse not to use them. THINK ABOUT IT! all modern cars use electronic: Fans Engine control units Fuel injectors Alternators ignition system heater control emissions control stereo etc etc etc. I do not see that as a valid excues, because ANYthing can fail at ANY time for ANY reason. Unless the person installing the e-fan is a complete dolt and has no idea about how to make it work right, you run just as much chance of engine failure w/ the stock fan as you do w/ an e-fan. I run an $80 adjustabel summit fan. at highway speeds it works great. I need to lower my thermostat tho it comes on too high of temp. |
i know how to install e-fans, and if i didnt i got hook ups everywere i look. but thats not it, idk i might just take off my shrout and remount my fan becuz its fucked up and then run a hose down there for my intake and drill a couple of holes, its gunna look nice, well maybe not nice but to me its gunna be tyte https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

Personally I think the stock fan is fine (as long as the viscous clutch is working). Remember an electric fan will present quite a load on the electrical system.
Just my opinion. (also the 84-85 fans are temperature sensitive) Also anything you use for an intake hose should be free of ridges because they generate turbulence and kill flow. |
so for the intake find something that is smoooth???

Exactly like 3" exhaust tubing.
