https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif The Picture is pretty self-explanatory. I'm pretty sure it only collides on hard acceleration. Any ideas? Thanks.

Get another cover and drill the holes a bit bigger so you can lift it up a little.

j9fd3s 07-23-2003 12:46 PM

maybe you have a bad motor/tranny mount? make sure it doesnt hit the radiator

Hey, I'll check it out for you when you come over on the weekend. We should ditch that old fan and get you sorted with an electric one.

drifter 07-23-2003 10:35 PM

Cool.

Clean all that **** from your engine bay.

Degreaser is $1.50 a can. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Save some dosh and I'll get you sorted with some electric fans. We still gotta do that cold air induction mod too.

Series1RX7 07-23-2003 10:54 PM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683621.gif I degreased it last week, well the block etc anyway, the actuall engine is pretty clean, only the bay is dirty. The car as a whole is pretty clean.

RotorMotorDriver 07-27-2003 06:49 AM

Bah, just get the E-fan. It will fix all your problems, and make the engine bay look A LOT cleaner and more empty, trust me, its worth it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

TJ,

Your engine compartment is really looking good. I see you removed alot of that

red (or was it yellow?) spiral wrap.

You should post more pics. Looks like you have amost every N/A Mod out there.

Racer X 07-27-2003 10:41 AM

What type of fan is that TJ????

RotorMotorDriver 07-27-2003 10:55 AM

Hey thanks guys https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png. I love compliments, they mean a lot to me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

Racer X - Actually, I dont know what kinda fan it is. I put down that its a Black Magic in my sig, but thats a lie. I didnt know what the call it, and saying "electric fan conversion" just didnt sound that cool, lol. The fan came with the car (thrown in the back no less) when my Dad got the car from the junk yard as my "project car". You can read all about it by clicking the link in my sig.

DF - Yeah, I removed a lot of the yellow split loom. Theres still some in there, but its a combination of yellow and black now, lol. As far as mods, youre right, I pretty much dont have anything else to do to it, lol. I was honestly thinking about it the other day while thumbing through one of my catalogs, and I couldnt really think of anything else to get for the darn thing as far as the engine goes. I need to work on suspension and brakes now. After thats done, I think I see a T2 swap in the future https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

As far as pictures, Ill go take some more in just a few minutes after I write this and make a new thread so were not hijacking this one anymore than we already have https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png.

Take a measurement of how much room you have to spare before the electric fan is bigger then the radiator itself.

Goto the junkyard with your handydandy notebook (inside, have the measurements you took like stated above) and a tape measure.

Scour the junkyard like a fiend for undamaged electric fans that fit the bill.

Remember to take the measurement from the radiator to the pulley that you orginal MAZDA fan used to bolt up to cause ALOT of the stock fan motors are HUGE.

Truck / SUV's have BIG fans... Small economical cars have dual fans to cool the radiator and AC condensor. I'm sure you'll walk out of there w/something for under $50.

Summit has a sensor kit from Painless wiring that can wire up your electric fan/s so the temp of your coolant will kick the fan/s on or off when necessary.

Thats what I did, aside from making up mounting brackets for whatever fan you score this can be done for under $100 easy. And it'll free up 1-3 HP...

But this you probally already know... I just feel like typing... and making my first post. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

drifter 07-27-2003 10:11 PM

nice fan advice.

welcome to the forum https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

When he gets $$, where gonna do a bunch of mods. Start of the list is remove aircon, then do the electric fan, then do the cold air induction.

kettlman 07-28-2003 12:36 AM

havn't done it yet, but a long time ago(being at least 8 years) i heard that chevy s-10 fans worked great. just a suggestion.
