I am starting to look at headers for the GSL-SE and the Mazda Motorsports piece looks very nice. This header is a dual, long tube design much like the Racing Beat road race header with uncollected terminations.



Now, I am interested in keeping the stock secondary actuators, as I don't want to lose the bottom or top end by keeping the actuators either open or shut at all times. Since the stock secondary actuators are operated off of backpressure, I will need to make a provision for the actuator pick-up tube somewhere.



It seems like my only two options, considering the given information, are to merge the two tubes right after the header or to attach the actuator pick-up on one tube only.



I plan on dumping the smog pump so actuating the...actuators via this method is not really an option.



Any suggestions or opinions?

Yeah. The Racing Beat stuff is mild steel and that is kind of why I want to go another route. Mazdatrix doesn't show a picture of what system they are describing but if it is the same assembly I am thinking of there is a provision for the actuators much like the stock exhaust system has.



I suppose I am trying to figure out if the actuators' pick-up tube can be run off of one pipe in a dual pipe system (if there will be enough backpressure to properly operate the actuators) or if it needs a certain amount of backpressure and the pipes having to be merged before the actuators' pick-up tube.



Does anyone know if the drop in low-end power is significant? How about the effect on fuel mileage?

I ran the Racing Beat dual long primary setup, which had provisions for the 6th port actuation.



My 6th ports didnt work, but on a normally functioning intake assembly it would work fine. It will be ok to have the backpressure tube come off of one of the two exhaust pipes. thtas how the racing beat setups are, and NO company knows more about rotary exhaust than racing beat, In my opinion.
