I ave a couple of ideas for the exhaust on the SE I will be picking up this week. Which do you guys think would be better? Here's the first:

and the second one:

BTW, the first one has an inline muffler in each pipe and the second one, resonators. I know the first one will be louder and better for the track (the car is bridgeported) but it will also be drive on the street sometimes, so I was thinking of the second one for streetability. Which do you guys think?

#2 should be better

nice...i wanted something similar to #1, but without the cross. 2 separate al the way to the mufflers. what i currently have is a "Y" after the headers to 2 in-line silencers to another "Y" after the axle bend out 2 mufflers. the car came with that setup...

I think we are going to go with the first setup, but maybe without the crossover. Just throw 2 pipes on there with inline Flowmasters or something like that...I am still debating the crossover, just cause it would cut out some top-end power, and we all know bridgeports have all top-end power. Anyone have any suggestions for mufflers?

dynomax has a straight thru muffler that works well on the fd's, or maybe even the racing beat t2 presilencer, although its kinda $$

Do the Dynomax or Borla mufflers have steel packing? Or are some glass mufflers alright?
I found these Borlas that I'd like: http://www.borla.com/xr1.sportsman.oval.mufflers/ and http://www.borla.com/xr1.sportsman.round.mufflers/ And these Dynomax http://www.dynomax.com/superturbo.stm http://www.dynomax.com/documents/super_turbo_specs.pdf (parts # 17725 and 17741) |
I had one similar to 2 except my pipes didn't Y into the muffler. The muffler had dual pipes in. Pretty good set-up.
|
it works for me. i dont really have anything to test it against. its a bit on the loud side, yet after doing a ghetto BP is not that much louder than with the stock GSLSE engine.
|
I think I am going to go with the second design, sans resonators, and into one muffler with dual inlets and outlets, like Viperx7 said.
Should be on ther end of next week! Today, hopefully we start it up! |
The further back the "y" connects, the power band moves higher.
Good for ported engines. |
