Up until recently I haven't had any sort of reliability issues with this. It had flooded once before I managed to fix it (though much by accident it seems). This week it has flooded twice. Both times in the pouring rain making it very inconvenient to even try to fix, let alone while dressed up to go to work.



I've read the thing about disconnecting the plug on the coil to shut off the fuel pump, and taking the plugs out. But it doesn't ever seem to work on the first shot for me. Does anyone have any surefire methods for unflooding these? I don't normally have access to someone who can give me a jump, and anything that doesn't require pulling the plugs would be great. Should I maybe just disconnect the pump first for a few cranks every time it's raining out as a preventative measure?

First time this week when I hopped in, weather was nice. After being on the road for an hour it started raining. I drove another two hours later before I got gas. Shut it off, started up fine, still pouring rain. Drove another 3 hours to my destination, parked it. 3 days later I jump in it and it starts, idles for about 2 minutes, the starts sputtering and dies. Nothing was open on thanksgiving, so I spent it staring at walls, reading how to fix it when I realized that there isn't actually a fuse for my fuel pump (that I can find anyhow). After getting a jump, pulling the plugs, etc I got it started. Tons of smoke, was touchy to keep it running at first. Let it warm up to temp and shut it back down since I all my crap wasn't ready to go at this point. Fired back up later and drove all the way back. Weather was good, went through a tunnel and there was snow, but later turned to just rain. Parked it.



This morning it was pouring down rain. I tried disconnecting the pump and pulling the plugs. After cranking the engine for a good 20 seconds it seemed cleared out, so I wiped the plugs off, put them back in. connected the pump. It didn't even try to start this time, so I went back inside. it's dark and pouring rain. I should be at work in 2 minutes but I have to wait for someone else to get home so they can give me a jump again. Seems my battery has gone to crap too.



As much as I love this car, it's really got me frustrated right now. I'm sure my boss is none to pleased either, or won't be when he gets my message.

are the plugs wet each time you pull em.. could be leaking injectors..

They have been wet each time, though not in similar amounts each time. I remember them being dripping wet once or twice. They weren't too bad this morning though.

It has started flooding again, weather went from nice 40-50's to about 3 inches of snow.



Now when I take the plugs out at least one of them is literally filled with gas/oil. One is usually wet looking, and the other two are moderately dry. It has reached a point where it would want to start a few times, but it was never enough to keep the engine going.



Is there perhaps some way to manually lean it out? After having taken the plugs out about a dozen times since it started doing this again I'm not to keen on just trying again.



(edit) Just thought of this, but after getting it running the last time it had a weird tendency to get stuck at the last highest revs it was taken too. I'd hold it at 3k to make sure it was gonna go good, and when i let off the gas it would stay there. If I bumped it up to 5, it would stay there. Running through all the gears with the clutch in seemed to cause it to drop back off most of the time.

It got into the 40's today, so I decided to try again since it was warm. Fired up first time. I think it just hates the cold.
