Just started up the 7 for a quick snack run, and the tach was bouncing around a bit, and was reading about 1000rpm too high. Once I got above 3000rpm or so it seemed to be okay. Back down below that, did the same thing.

Loose ground would be my best guess.

Check your trailing coil connections. your tach pickup is connected there.

Thanks, I will check - of course the day my car decided to do this, and also lose the nuts off the manifold causing a gynormous exhaust leak, it just has to snow about four inches. Blech.
