anyone know offhand ifan 84 gsl-se motor will drop right into my 79'? will I need the gsl-se trans and driveshaft?

you need the front crossmember and its will go right in https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

i would use your tranny, that way you dont have to move the shifter.

my memory is weak today, is that crossmember bolted or welded in? Obviously this motor is coming out of that poor wreck I posted pics of. So I can get any and all parts I need.

So I can keep the 12 5spd tranny, that's great but what about the clutch? 12a or 13b clutch kit.

Been there driving that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png The front crossmember is bolted in.Mine was rusted to **** tho. Then you will need a 13b 6port carb and intake setup with the EFI block offs.the stock wiring should work.Keep the top part for the upper rad hose so you can use the stocker. You can use the stock clutch on it(I am for now).Other than that remember to use the SE starter and you shoudn't have any problems.I didn't once the 12a crossmember came out. What happened to stock????12a??

Definitly the 13B clutch

I put an 86' 13B into my '79, no problem- except for the carb. - So now i'm switching the car over to fuel injected, it's a little tricky, having to take an '86 and '79 wiring harness and make one, other than that piece of cake.

I would also switch the underneath from that gsl-se, more wheel options, better rear-end, keep the '79 driveshaft just swith the mounting plate on the rear-end itself that way it bolt right up

or if you like the stock pattern you can run a GSL rear with the stock LSD in it.

j9fd3s 11-13-2002 11:28 AM

i would drop the gsl-se motor in complete, clutch, flywheel, radiator, hoses etc

well the thing is I can have any parts of that wreck I posted pics of in the general forum. The motor still runs so th eengine/efi system is good. So I can get all that stuff. I just doubt the trans or rear is good becouse of that impact it took. I really did'nt look too good yet, but I seen the driveshaft is snapped in 1/2 :(

j9fd3s 11-13-2002 03:28 PM

i yeah i think the axle is gonna be bent, i would just drop the motor in complete, actually the dash will swap too

I saw that. That was a nice car.Yeah I'd get everything you can to swap on to your car.Too bad the rear is gone or else SE brakes are nice with rear discs.EFI swap isn't too bad.Just make sure the SE pump is in good shape. You could take the front SE setup then get a wrecker to find the rear for you too.Just sell the stock parts off to cover the costs.the 12a still runs good so you shoulg make money off of that.Like mike said you might as well change dashes too.Seeing as you can get parts easily. You grabbing the exhaust from it too?
