My RX-7 12AT dies during cold starts, but after heating for a few minutes (like 15 minutes) it is back to normal. Thereafter, the car starts normal when put off. The other problem I encounter is frequent backfires, now this only occurs when the engine has warmed up. I am asking what in the world could be the problem? [B]

My 82 is very cold blooded. When it is below 45 degrees it takes about 15-20 minutes before it will idle on its own. I just keep the rpm's up until I know its warmed up enough. What kind of 12AT do you have? Is it a J-spec or custom turbo kit? There are not many people on here with turbo 12A's so it would be cool if you could tell us about it a bit and maybe even post some pics! :bigok:

have no fear isamu im taking before and after pics of my 84 getting turbo installed on to it. should be fun, the guy whos helping me put it together says i should have 350whp @ 7 psi when its done, i guess we'll see https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

ohh abdi its probably taking long to warm up cuz you're running rich thats why it also backfires.

Sweet! I saw a J-spec 12AT for sale on fc3s.org for 850 once. A turbo first gen would be cool.

My Savannah Turbo backfires only when the engine warms up. Now this is interesting because the EFI computer appears to be reversing functions. Am I right on this? :(
