Hi guys and girls,
I have an 84' Rx-7 12A, 5-spd. from the original owner, 67,000 miles on it. It has been nothing but a blast to drive. Then about a week ago I was driving along when I looked down at my tach and I saw that it was dead, I kept driving , and then a couple minutes later the motor died. I turned the car off then started it, no problem, the tach was working again too. Just before I made it to my friends it does the same thing again. All the fuses are getting juice and the engine is getting spark and gas, and I even took out my cd-player to rule out an electrical short. Now she starts when she wants to. It is very frustrating, if any of you have experienced the same thing or have any ideas, I would love to hear them! Thanks, Dane12A |
I would maybe check the wiring going to your coils for a dead short somewhere? If the wiring to your coils is F'd up, your tach wont work right. Thats you trailing coils by the way.

agreed.

Trailing ignitor on it's way out. Swap in a known good one and see if that helps.

thanx j9fd3s,
When I was lookin through the Vic.Brit. catalog it didn't realize it was that small. There is only one on the front of my dist. I see that you have a GSL-SE, I wish mine was too, its just base model but I got it from the original owner with 64,000 miles on it. Its silver with blue interior, it jams! Thanks |
Perfect time to convert to Direct Fire, look into some of the sticky threads on how to do it. Cheers

well thats that,
I went to pick 'n pull and grabbed three of those ignitors, got home, and about two minutes later I was out driftin' in the rain. You have no idea how much I've missed driving that thing! Thanks for all the help guys, now how do you delete this whole post to make room for somone else with a problem? |
