specifically for 1st generation RX7's.I don't want any cheezy generic aftermarket fan.I'm talking about a fan specifically designed for these cars.
Thank you rotarybhp :yinyang: |
To the best of my knowledge, there isn't an electric fan kit made strictly for a 1st gen. I have twin 10" from Summit. They kick out about 900 cfm apiece. Needless to say, no problem with the cooling.

what i did was i just took a set of honda fans and modified them to fit.if you have a welder that you can use the sky is the limit.i cut them apart and relocated the brackets to bolt right up to where the shroud used to.sorry no pics yet.but it was easy so try that if you can get near a welder.

Hey Rotarybhp, wooffinn from downunder. No luck down here either on your fan kit made for gen 1. We have a few kits stating they are for them, but in reality they're a multifit unit. If you have to go aftermarket, make sure the unit has good shrouding and a decent switch. A lot of my customers buy the cheaper units which only have a wire trigger which fits under the radiator hose. Two main problems are one it looks like **** and two they're basically impossible to seal. Or as Rex84 said you might find a 'factory looking unit' and modify it to suit. Good luck! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
I have a single 12 inch fan on my series one and I have no problem with cooling. :p |
yeah, check out summitracing.com I picked up a 12 inch fan that mounts right to the radiator for $67.00 works very well!!

I don't trust electric I use a flex fan with no fan clutch. But you MUST use a Race quality Flex Fan. The RX7 WILL shoot a normal Flex Fan out of your hood. So get the fan with the 10,000 RPM limit insted of the 6,000(Normal flex fan)-Devon

B) Try www.victoriabritish.com they will send you a free catalog for RX-7, it has an electric fan kit in it and it might be what you are looking for.

the best looking fan setup i have seen and the highest CFM that i know of is the flex o lite "black magic" 2800 cfm and its a BAD BITCH. people think my car is still running when the fans on https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png and it has NO prob keeping my ported motor cool in 100+ ATL. Ga temps even with the A/C on..... and a nice wiring setup to.

There are no specific kits...I was using a Derale 1900 cfm 16" fan on my now totalled '80...it easily kept up with the streetported 12A... -_-

Here's a crappy pic of it. The fan itself fit nicely into the factory shroud... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I used a radiator out of a 90 turbo eclipse, wired both fans together on a simple togle switch tight sqweeze you'll have to relocate your battery and get a splice for your upper radiator hose with a cap on it. My first gen (perforated bridge port 12a) runs almost cold at 60 on the highway,

As of right now...
Im running an electric fan... Dunno the CFM or blade length.. Any ways I have it between the engine and radiator .and used a pull set up ...and in stop and go trafffic it wasnt so good.but didnt over heat* Now last Friday I installed my restrictor I made..and its keeping it alot cooler.. If you guys want to try it do this.... Take a new ..or old thermostat... BUT buy a new gasket... Cut the 2 side peices on the back side of the thermostat that is holding the guts in... pull the guts out with out bending the thermostat...(the flat part)... Now make sure you dont any loose metal peices that will get into your engine...then put it back in and add the new gasket... I have done This on my 12A and NOT sure if this is good for 13Bs It has droped my temp down by I would say 25%..which in FLweather is good.. My goal for my cooling system is .. Aluminum radiator.. Big push fan /in front of the radiator.. with Air rams ducts to help get air into the fan.. and looks clean when you look into the engine.. and putting the restrictor back in.. |
