I have this nice right hand sweeper on my way to work and I always make an attempt to hang out the back. Well this past week it has been raining, and as you know this is conducive to oversteer.
With the roads nice and went and clear of traffic I get her back end HANG WAY out. On my shift to second to power out I hear...Ping! Crap. I knew this was coming. Wait I am still moving. What the hell...Holy crap vibration galore. So I limp the car to work at 35mph... oh so painfull. But no worries I have a spare driveshaft at home. So I go home for lunch thinking I was going to be ultra slick and Ninja that driveshaft out and install the new/used one. Installing the shaft into the transmission tail housing go to line up the yoke to the pinion flange...****... The newly installed driveshaft has the small yoke. Double ****...The old driveshaft is not "rebuildable". Triple ****...Mazda wants HOW much.... Enter internet: http://www.ultrarev.com/files/images...t_45549_02.jpg www.ultrarev.com 400 and some change for a aluminum driveshaft. Or I go to my local mate so he can make a "rebuildable" 83 shaft. Question? Anyone have experience with the above mentioned Ultrarev company? |
I take it from the lack of posts that nobody has delt with this company.

ive only used stock, and the regular after market ones
|
sometimes it pays to go stock.. remember..this is a sports car. a lot of the time, stock is better than after market.

I've gone through 3 Driveshafts in... about 3 years.....
All stocker N/A's Now i "was" banging the turboII shaft sexyness! |
YAH!! My Driveshaft is done. Oh I can't wait to get her back on the road!
Side note. I bought the last 2 Moog FB Ball Joints from Rockauto.com... Hooray for limited parts availability |
I'm not sure if you've installed it yet, but how is the fitment?
I haven't ordered one yet for my project because I haven't had the need...soon enough. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.gif |
driveshaft shop is good. i am running one in my 240sx
|
Driveshaft shop is bad. I had my rebuilt by them. They rebalanced it afterwards for me. But only up to 3000 rpm. That was all they could do.
At the end of Mosport Straightaway in 4th gear at 7000 rpms, the car shook like it was going to explode. The driveshaft couldn't stay balanced at 7000 rpms. Remember 4th gear is 1:1. So if engine is 7000 rpms, the driveshaft is 7000 rpms. I sent it back they checked it at the balance machine and let me watch it. It was perfect at 3000 rpm. I asked can you do it at 7000 rpms? They said the machine couldn't do it. I ended up paying for a brand new Mazda OEM driveshaft. No more scary moments. |
thats weird! they sell tons of nissan driveshafts with no problems hmm
