I'm puting togeyher my ignition and I printed out the pages on it the diagram however doesnot show where the green and red wires go on the back of the igniter.Does the green go on the left or the right when looking at the back of the igniter the conections on the lower left which side does the green go? or does it matter? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Yes, it does. The pickup coil creates an AC signal that looks like this:

As you can see, the voltage slopes upward as the metal "point" swings toward the pickup
coil. Then the voltage reverses immediatly, then swings back up to zero. It is at the point of voltage reversal, when the voltage passes zero, that the ignitor opens the ground circuit and "fires" the coil. When the polarity is reversed, the sharpness of the transition is lost and the accuracy of the timing is lost. |
