alright this topic has been on my mind since my buddy has decided to sell his car. he is selling an 84 gs that is converted to a 85 gsl-se. i finally have the money that he said he'll take to sell me the car. he wants 3 grand but im only giving 2 and making payments. as i said the car is a converted 85gsl-se with a bp motor and 40-50k on the clock. TII tranny i think, holly carb, 2 sets of rims (panasports and epsilons), nice stereo set up, alarm and an extra sp motor at his place if anything goes wrong, i can pop that one in. i know it sounds simple enough to just pick up the car cause its worth a lot more than he's asking. my problem is not knowing the way he built it. if i break something its not gonna be done the way a mazda mech would fix it or even a way that i would fix it, it would be his way. im not doubting his ability to build the motor, he is a great mech, hell he works on helicopters, im doubting my ability to trouble shoot wtf he did.

i have gone without a 7 for about 5 months now and i figure a couple more months cant hurt. hell i got 2 kids that i can buy clothes for and **** like that. im taking up an extra job to have extra money for bills, food, a car. just some more luxaries that i dont have. BTW thanks phinshit for getting me into all these expensive toys!!! so with the extra job i wont have time to work on the car if something goes wrong. at least i wont havfe immediate time, im sure i can work on it but not right away.

well what should i do? buy the 1st gen that is built and ready to go (a car that i have been longing for and will keep me from bitching so much around the house) or wait and just bitch a lot more about not having an rx7 again (mostly to my wife and kids) and save up for another car. problem being a 1st gen bp with all the extras this car comes with and the price its for does not come around often.

thanks for reading my ranting that im sure doesnt make sense

Tough call dude, we all got priority's, I know how that goes. My saying is there are few deals that only come along once, basically if it's meant to be and you can't swing it right now I'm sure you when the time comes you'll find something just as good or maybe even better.

That's my two cents.

what other car will u be saving money for?? id say buy it, but im biased towards 1st gens. if anything was to go wrong, would your buddy at the least help you figure out what happened?

Turbo II 02-05-2003 04:31 PM

yeah he'd help out. when i had problems with my 2nd gen and didnt know about this forum yet, he be right at my house after his work and wait 30 mins for me to get home so we can work on my car. the thng is, he just got married and i dont wanna be a bardon on him and his wife. havent seen him or his wife since they got married, u know that newlywed ****

Married people do seem do drop off the face of the earth.

My inclination would be to go for it but I obviously don't know your exact situation. I'd figure out the budget very carefully were I you. I know it's tempting to let the heart rush in front of the head but as they say in Mozambique "discretion is the better part of valour"

well i think since its something you want, and its a good deal that you should go ahead and get it. it only a 1st gen its not like its a complex car, or one that is new and unknown.

yeah u'll be there to help me outta. :bigthumg: gotta get AIM on my cell phone now

Red12aRx7 02-05-2003 08:00 PM

BUY it. Everyone knows how much you hate not having a 7 around. Just get it over with and get one you don't have to do much to right now. If it breaks you know he could help. Or you could always ask the intelligent people of this forum. Excluding me, but I know they are out there.

I say get it.You need to spoil yourself once and awhile. You can't go thru life with a little fun. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png especially seeing as you have another job too.Plus the EFI on the SE makes for a nice daily driver.
