I've finally thrown in the ShamWow and had my car towed to a trusted mechanic. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to get the dang clutch slave cylinder removed and replaced. I guess that my hands are just too big go gain access.

Update. As mentioned above, I took the RX7 to Wolfgang/Coyote Motors in Boulder. He has actually been working on this car since almost the day I bought it in 1982. Wolfgang replaced the slave cylinder, bled the system and the clutch works. I also asked him to go through the systems to check everything and he ended up overhauling the carb and replacing the idler arm bushings. The car would still barely start & run and Wolfgang surmised that the 5 year old gas in the tank probably was the problem so we added new gas and the car runs fine. Well almost. After a hard drive yesterday, coming to a stop, the car died. Took awhile to get it restarted and it stumbled and missed before catching and running smoothly. Could still be some of the bad gas or the carb needs further adjustment. I'm on it from here. But, next stop is the body shop for fixing the many dings, minor dents and crunched right front fender and new paint.

nice man!! i lived in boulder a few years ago right off campus, but at the time was driving an old 85 chevy c-10 lol. oh, and after reading your interests, how are you surviving living there? I thought I was the only one who lived there solely to piss off the yuppies on the boardwalk touting their flyers about emissions and the ozone. they didn't like it when they realized they wasted their time giving me their entire hand me down speech only for me to hop in my truck and go blasting away at full throttle with straight pipes lol. best of luck and be careful with the 7 in the snow lol

Well, I have lived in Boulder for 40+ years and in the mountains for about 20 of that. I sold my '72 Vette last year (Hookers, sidepipes, Edelbrock, Weiand) and the best story is when I was pumping gas at a station near the Hill. Some "green" kid comes up to me and says that I'm "destroying the environment with that car." He probably had never seen anything like the "batmobile" before in real life so had no idea what it was. I looked at him seriously and said with a straight face that, no man, "it is a hybrid." He paused for a second and said, wow, that's cool. I couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes.



The 7 is actually not bad in the snow with 4 snow tires although the Audis are necessary for mountain driving in the winter. When I first bought the 7 and it was my daily driver, I used to take it skiing to Summit County and Steamboat all the time. Sometimes some aux chains were necessary but I passed a lot of "invincible" Volvos and Saabs in the ditch! Just proves that it's not so much the car as the driver. As Enzo said, the car goes where the eyes go.

lol well remembering some of the "intellects" that went to that school it's not hard to imagine them sliding it off the road lol. as to the vette story, that's freakin hilarious, i'll have to remember that haha
