Hey Rotorboy, Wooffinn here, foreign corrospondent mechanic. Best thing I've found, is your garden hose. I've had a few bad experinces with those 'bottled' flushes, especially with older, higher milage engines and leakage problems afterwards.

Basically I always say, your car will look after you as well as you look after it. Use a good quality coolant/antifreeze and change it regularly.

The best way is to remove your drains[in the radiator and some engines have a block drain in the middle housing] and your inlet hose to your heater box[at the fire wall]. Stick the hose into the heater hose end and turn on. Give it some reasonable pressure and check for clear water at the drains. Momentarily block your drains to let the let back flow through the radiator. Give it five or so minutes and drain and then refill as per instructions.

Just check what the old water/cooland looks like and while it's empty just check with a torch inside the top of the radiator for any blockages in the small tubes. Old,rusty water trends to create more scale/deposits so you may need to invest in a professional flush for the radiator at a radiator shop. A little care now can save that engine! B)
