Hello all, can I take my charcaol canister off....will something happen if it comes out. I know it connects to the oil filler tube, can I pulg it or put breather.

you can put a breather, but the charcoal caniister alos vents the gas tank, so you have to do something with that.

How come you want to take it off - does it affect performance? Can't see how . . .

I was just wondering if it did or not. Does it do anything for performance?.....if it doesn't, then i 'll leave it alone. Thanks

That depends if I can remember correctly,I want to wait till Directfreak gets his cosmo FB running and see if anything wierd happens to it.He pulled his canister off and plugged the lines.I hate that stupid canister.

j9fd3s 02-14-2003 04:51 PM

yah, you have to vent it somewhere

Just think of it as a gas filter for your air. It stores Fuel vapors from your crankcase

and your gas tank. Then, when you start the engine it draws them from your canister

and burns the vapors.

Granted the Quantity of fuel lost is relatively small, but as my screen-name suggests,

these things are kinda/sort-of important to me.

DO NOT PLUG IT, i just ran a hose from the vent side under the car. but do not plug it, ive heard of dangerous pressure building up before, with not so very good results. it basiclly vents your gas tank.
